Waste today. Clean energy tomorrow.
Mana exists to accelerate the shift towards a fully decarbonised and circular economy. We started with industrial projects and are now building technology: a platform that turns variable, non-recyclable waste into qualified feedstock for fuels, chemicals and energy.
NG Nordic spins out a company to find better uses for waste that goes to incineration.
The Mongstad and Umeå projects started their feasibility studies.
easyJet signs an MoU for long-term supply of SAF from Renavia and Mana.
Joint development of Norway's first waste-to-methanol plant at Mongstad.
The first project is ready for pre-FEED. What the projects taught us is becoming a platform for the whole industry.

Waste is one of the world’s largest untapped resources. Once you can measure a material, you can trade it and invest in it. Our solution turns waste into bankable assets.
Why the world needs Mana
A small collection of clips explaining Mana, our purpose and our answer to one of the biggest problems facing the planet.

Vision
Build Europe's leading tech platform for circular carbon value chains
The problem
The waste market is a blind spot. Today, no one knows what waste streams actually exist.
And for the streams we do know about, no one can say:
- What quality do they hold?
- How do they change over time?
- How much carbon do they contain?
- Which RED III attributes travel with them?
- What are they best used for?
- What are they really worth?
The solution
Mana is the intelligence layer between waste supply and conversion technology, connecting everyone who depends on the feedstock. Open a row to see what it means for them.
Municipalities and businesses get a documented route for residual waste that today goes to incineration or landfill, priced on its quality.
Waste managers learn which fractions a conversion technology needs, and can prepare and blend to that specification.
Project developers, technology providers and plant operators get feedstock with known properties, qualified for their technology, so the plant runs as designed.
Knowing the carbon content of the feedstock tells the capture plant how much CO2 to expect, and how much of it is biogenic.
Shipping companies get fuel with a documented origin and carbon intensity that they can report under FuelEU Maritime.
Rules such as RED III decide which fuels count as renewable. The platform tracks the attributes those rules ask for, stream by stream.
Every tonne is traceable from source to fuel, so the whole value chain can be certified, not only the plant.
From 100 years in waste to an independent platform
Roots
Learning in the waste world
- NG Nordic builds the world’s first fully digital waste sorting line
- 100% reception control of incoming waste, with fraction standards and billing for off-spec loads
- 2020: Norway’s Smartest Industrial Company, Lean Company of the Year, Environmental Company of the Year
Origin
Solve a strategic problem
- NG Nordic needs a better outlet than incineration for waste that cannot be recycled
- Mana is founded inside NG Nordic
- Projects start with Equinor at Mongstad and Renavia in Umeå
Tools proven
Build and test the tools
- Waste tests, gasification tests and DNV carbon calculations
- First versions of WRS, TQF and EWF-Engine
- First platform work with customers outside our own projects
Independence
Open the platform to everyone
- Serve all waste companies, including NG Nordic’s competitors
- A neutral owner of the standard
- External capital and industrial partners
NG Nordic gave Mana its roots. Independence lets Mana serve the whole industry.
A spin-out of nearly 100 years of waste handling

Where we come from
Mana was established in January 2023 by NG Nordic, which handles 4.4 million tonnes of waste a year across six countries. We set out to find better solutions for the waste that today goes to incineration, and the operating know-how from NG Nordic’s plants is what Mana’s tools are built on.

Our edge
Proprietary know-how built in real industrial projects, access to waste and to industrial projects, and leading technology and research partners around us.
